Things Happen
Or why there's no MOTE prompt
Some of you might have noticed I didn’t post a MOTE (More Odds Than Ends) prompt response this week. There are a couple reasons for that.
I forgot to send in a prompt, usually no big deal there are spares after all. But none of the spares really spoke to me.
I fully intended on using one of the spares, or stealing a direct challenges assigned to one of the other writers and use that.
Life interrupted while I was doing that.
I had a short story deadline I needed to hit. I did hit it, and if the story gets published, I’ll let you all know. If it doesn’t, I’m planning an anthology of my own stories, so it will likely appear in that.
Family is all fine, that wasn’t any of the life issues. Those were more in the vein of mundane, but necessary issues that had to be dealt with. In addition, because beloved spouse actually works for a living, I try to keep my weekends free so we can do things together.
For example, he took yesterday, Friday, off and we went to a street festival a few towns over. Had a great time checking out vendors and wandering around. Found an artist who creates illustrations of cats and dogs with drinks sitting at a bar, lounging in beach chairs, that sort of thing. All very silly, cute, and fun. We found a picture identical to Kona, our small tortoise shell not-quite-a-kitten-anymore.
Now that my short story has been submitted, I’m back working on Station on the Edge. It’s thisclose to being finished. My plan is it’s the first book of a trilogy in the Glasvyr Station/Market Station universe. I’m going to outline the next two books in that series before moving on to anything else.
In line after Station is Dragon’s Tale Pub. That’s also going to be a series, probably a trilogy. I seem to work best in threes, although anything can happen. I have some other stories floating around, and some, shall we say, strong suggestions from friends/readers to revisit a couple of universes.
A good friend is helping me stay accountable and on top of things so I’m optimistic my procrastination desires will be strongly blunted.
One question for y’all… I’m thinking about adding a paid subscription option which would give access to chapters in whatever current work in progress, short story previews, that kind of thing. Would anyone pay for that? Let me know in the comments. Thanks!
Okay, it’s Saturday and we have gardening and yard work to take care of, and possible an outing. Enjoy your weekend, all!

I’d definitely pay for a periodic glimpse behind the creative curtain!
You write 'em, I'll buy 'em.
I can justify paying for books more than another subscription. I understand the necessities of working with The 'Zon, though.
